2009
Space Quest 2009 summer camps offer a wide
variety of options in age levels and interest areas.
We will have
one-day camps for students rising into 2nd through 4th grades called Mission Specialist I
and II. A three-day Rocket Camp will be offered for students rising into 5th-8th grades. Rocketeers will design, build and launch five different types of rockets. We
will also have our two-day CSI (Challenger Special investigators) camp for students rising into 5th-7th grades. Campers will search for
the missing Mars rocks while using a ransom note
and following fingerprints. Also, a three-day Robotics Camp for students rising into 6th-8th grades will be held in June. Campers will design, build and test a variety of robots. Finally, Mission to Mars will be a three-day camp for students rising into 4th-7th grades. Planetary astronauts will fly to the Red Planet in the simulator and then build and live in a colony on the surface of Mars.
***NEW THIS YEAR Astrotot Camp will be offered to students rising into Kindergarten- 1st grades. Choose from Rockin’ Rockets and Cosmic Constellations or come to both. Each session is two hours in length.

Fill out the form and mail or fax with appropriate payment. Camp registrations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Full payment is required to reserve a spot.

| Allyson Calhoun, Lone Oak Middle School science teacher, was named the 2008-2009 Challenger Learning Center’s Outstanding Educator during a surprise presentation at a Lone Oak Middle School faculty meeting. Staff from the Challenger Learning Center at Paducah, recognized Calhoun as the center’s third outstanding educator. During the presentation they presented Calhoun with a framed certificate and a $100 gift certificate for science and math supplies donated by Travis School Supply. In addition the McCracken County School district also receives one free mission for the 2009-2010 school year to the Challenger Learning Center at Paducah. Calhoun was nominated by her principal, Mike White. He nominated her for this award because all students are important to her and she strives to make sure they are reaching their potential. |
